Sustainable Development Policy

Do it Now Now (DINN Enterprise CIC) is an open innovation organisation committed to the empowerment of Black people through the provision of access to opportunities for social mobility through entrepreneurship and employment. We bring skilled talent, charities, social entrepreneurs, start-up teams, social innovators, investors and philanthropists together to address social challenges, solve problems and support the development of under-represented groups and Black communities specifically.

This sustainable development policy was developed in accordance with the requirements of the 2014-20 ESF Operational Programme and the overarching themes of Do it Now Now’s sustainable development goals.

Sustainable development is a regulatory cross-cutting theme for all projects within Do it Now Now. Although the following policy has been specifically constructed for this programme it will unequivocally align to Do it Now Now’s underlying criteria and objectives for our community.

The purpose of this sustainable development policy is to provide a statement and demonstrate our public commitment to promoting sustainable development. We will comply with the relevant environmental legislation and undertake to ensure all of our service providers and activities abide by these and have their own active policy and implementation plan.

The work we do promotes skills and employment to ensure our beneficiaries have the skills to gain sustainable jobs; to enhance the competitiveness of their small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to support their SMEs to innovate and grow; to strengthen science & technological development and foster innovation in their enterprises to drive innovation and growth, and to invest in their SME’s infrastructure to ensure the capital has the underpinning technological, business and low carbon infrastructure to generate growth.

These main priorities and commitments build on the principles that underpinned the UK’s 2005 Sustainable Development strategy, by recognising the needs of:

  • the economy;

  • society; and

  • the natural environment.

Sustainable development in Do it Now Now has a strong social and economic focus (our main mission). All projects we run must take the environment into account when delivering services and provide evidence of continuous improvements.

i) Do it Now Now is firmly committed to promoting sustainable development whilst delivering activities and will require a similar assurance from all lead delivery providers and their sub-providers through monitoring and ensuring activities oblige to support social and economic sustainable development.

ii) Do it Now Now CEO will require confirmation that each organisation involved in the delivery of our projects or activities (the provider and any sub-providers) will: (a) seek to primarily support those with dire social or economic needs and (b) observe and comply with equality and diversity policy and comply with our safeguarding and safer recruitment policies.

The implementation plan for Do it Now Now’s activities demonstrates the actions to support our policy. All activity by providers is subject to monitoring, audit and evaluation by the Do it Now Now’s Directors and will contribute to the overarching achievements of the Do it Now Now strategic goals.

When working with providers and sub-providers, the sustainable development policies and implementation plans of lead providers and their sub-providers will undergo a basic initial assessment at the application stage to ensure that a basic policy and plan exist or that the key elements of the policy and plan have been drafted. Passing the basic initial assessment will not be considered a full endorsement of the policy/plan which is subject to constant improvement and monitoring throughout the duration of the provided programme.

The sustainable development policy and implementation plans of Do it Now Now, our team, our providers and their sub-providers are working documents and developmental in nature and will be required to be reviewed on a periodic basis.

iii) Providers will provide a Sustainable Development Policy and implementation plan as part of the Do it Now Now Request for Proposals documentation and all Do it Now Now grant agreements. Subsequently, the Providers will confirm that all sub-providers have suitable policies and implementation plans that meet basic requirements.

The Do it Now Now team are committed to reviewing and renewing this policy periodically.
