Insights from our Mindset Series: Transforming Your Money Mindset

Our monthly Black and Good Mindset Series is a space for entrepreneurs who wish to connect and grow through authentic conversation. This series provides opportunities to hear from exceptional guest entrepreneurs about their experiences and approach methods.

In these panel discussions, hosted by Bianca Bruce, founder of Brand Her Well - we explore themes based on the entrepreneurial mindset, shared challenges, and what a business journey can look like from the inside. Our mindset gently shapes our experience and how we move forward - as do the people, places, and experiences we are surrounded by. The Mindset Series serves as a space to inspire, to re-adjust your mindset, and help you carve a new path forward that supports your growth. Previous sessions included Burnout and Developing Balance, and Growing through Challenges.

All of these events are catered to helping the community hear stories of growth, challenge and inspiration that can be reflected in their own experience and help them forge new pathways forward based on new insights gained. We grow through community, and sharing can help us see new opportunities or perspectives that transform how we navigate life.

In the most recent series, the theme in conversation was Transforming Your Money Mindset with guests Suzy Ashworth, Joanne Munis and Winifred Soribe. The Money Mindset session allowed the community to come together and learn about the beliefs that may be holding us back from being financially stable, thriving and what we can do to transform our patterns into new and empowering ones. Our relationship with money can be ingrained with many beliefs, emotions and assumptions. All of which have the power to either uplift or deplete us. For this panel discussion, we will hear from three experts on developing healthy financial wellbeing and the mindset that encourages healthy growth.

During this session, we understood the importance of how our money mindset forms and influences our behaviours, actions, choices and emotions. We are advised to be curious and understand what money beliefs play out for us. We then need to begin building a new mindset and approach that financially empowers us by:

  • Taking courses and surrounding ourselves with people equipped in financial management to build our financial knowledge to develop the understanding to establish good practices and make well-informed decisions.

  • Personalising our money by considering our relationship with it. Do you respect it? Value it? Nurture it? The relationship we build with money will impact how we utilise and handle it.

  • Questioning our perspective and focusing on our why. What are your limiting beliefs around money, and how are they impacting your approach? Your why will ground you as you navigate your new financial process, and developing new beliefs around money will support your recent decisions.

Transforming your money mindset is a process, little habits daily that accumulate new and robust foundations. Please focus on the people you surround yourself with; the daily conversations, the stories we hear of what is possible, and the relationships we develop are deeply ingrained in the beliefs we build and how we shape our lives moving forward.

Suzy Ashworth, a participant at this event, shared, "Sustained growth, creating a way to grow and receive more sustainably, means you work on creating different thoughts. So you're projecting more positively into the future. But also, you're releasing the stuff you hold in your body and your emotional field. And to let go of the stuff in the past."
