In 2016, I ditched my banking hat after a sweet sixteen-year run with Halifax Plc to chase my dream. I hopped into the world of Business Information Technology with honours in 2017 and unlocked a whole new adventure as a project coordinator, rubbing shoulders with bids and programme managers, and soaking up some essential project management know-how.
During this time, I was thrilled to support London-based entrepreneurs through my customised business workshops, coaching sessions, and fantastic networking events, all powered by over £25million in EU and Mayor of London funding, spanning diverse sectors. I fine-tuned my superhero-level problem-solving skills, forged robust relationships with clients and esteemed stakeholders, and elevated customer satisfaction by a whopping 93%.
And then, I thought, “What’s next?” So, I became the ultimate multitasker, lending a hand to different teams and departments, and helping them meet their goals. We even got nominated for Outstanding Entrepreneurial University in 2022 and bagged Company of the Year EDA in the same year. My ace moves in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion earned me a cool Diversity Star Award and I was featured in January 2023.
Fast forward to today, and I’m a freelance Programme Manager working my mojo for an exciting agriculture project that’s all about supporting farmers in Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, and Guyana. I’m leading eight academics from the UK and the Caribbean, along with some global consultant whizzes. We’re all about focusing on effective communication with governments and fostering strong stakeholder relationships. But the excitement doesn’t stop there.
Experience with DiNN
With the support of DiNN, I’ve launched my own business called Kemz Solutions, a limited-guaranteed company on a mission to supercharge Black students with the knowledge and tools to rule the world. We’re talking about unlocking new horizons, levelling up skills, and embracing change with enthusiasm.
My journey is all about personal growth, problem-solving with style, forging connections at every turn, and wholeheartedly championing diversity and social justice. DiNN, the invaluable support system for Black women embarking on their entrepreneurial ventures, has been a guiding star in this voyage. It’s like a puzzle piece that fits perfectly with the awesome mission of DiNN, where I’ve gone from alumnus to panel guest to now an Advisory Board member. I’m excited about harnessing the wealth of experiences and skills gained along the way to make a substantial, positive contribution to the bright future of DiNN.
