Reducing Emissions, Equity in Action
Our 2024 Climate Impact Report
This report details our emissions impact, the steps we’re taking to reduce it, and how we align our sustainability efforts with equity and inclusion. We also call on funders, businesses, and community organisations to join us in creating a more just and sustainable future.
About Do it Now Now
Do it Now Now (DiNN) is a pioneering organisation dedicated to empowering Black-led charities, social enterprises, and grassroots organisations across the UK. As part of its commitment to fostering equity and social justice, DiNN launched the London Now Now campaign, a transformative initiative aimed at addressing the unique challenges faced by Black-led organisations in London. Through this campaign, DiNN has created pathways for financial support, capacity building, and systemic change, ensuring that Black communities are equipped with the tools, resources, and opportunities they need to thrive. The London Now Now campaign is not just about responding to immediate challenges—it's about building a future where Black-led organisations are recognised, resourced, and resilient, poised to create lasting impact in the communities they serve.

1. Our Approach
Do it Now Now is a UK-based organisation dedicated to driving positive change and ensuring that Black and underrepresented communities are actively included in climate action. Our goal is to achieve Net-Zero emissions by 2040 while fostering inclusivity and sustainability. With a fully remote team of nine, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact and advocating for equitable climate solutions.
Climate change disproportionately impacts Black and underrepresented communities, and we believe that the response to this crisis must be intersectional. Through our work, we seek to amplify the voices of those most affected, ensure equitable access to sustainability resources, and drive policy and funding solutions that reflect the needs of our communities. Our emissions reduction efforts are a vital part of this larger mission.

2. How We Manage Our Emissions
We take an evidence-based approach to tracking and reducing emissions, ensuring transparency and accountability in everything we do.
Data Collection: Our emissions data is gathered using the SSE Energy Solutions Carbon Footprint Calculator.
Calculation Standards: We adhere to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
Conversion Factors: We use UK Government emission conversion factors.
Scope Considerations: We assess Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.
Baseline Year: 2024 serves as our reference point for future reductions.
3. Our Emissions Inventory
Direct Emissions (Scope 1)
We do not use natural gas in any office locations, resulting in zero direct emissions.
Indirect Emissions from Energy Use (Scope 2)
As a fully remote organisation, we do not consume electricity in physical offices, meaning our Scope 2 emissions are zero.
Other Indirect Emissions (Scope 3)
Our Scope 3 emissions cover the impact of remote working and necessary business travel:
Homeworking electricity emissions: 1.1 tCO2e
Homeworking gas emissions (heating): 4.8 tCO2e
Business travel by train: 4.8 tCO2e
Business travel by diesel vehicle: 5.4 tCO2e
Business travel by petrol vehicle: 5.6 tCO2e
Business travel by air: 1.2 tCO2e
Hotel stays: 0.5 tCO2e
Purchased goods & services: 1.3 tCO2e
Total Emissions: 24.7 tCO2e
Impact Breakdown:
Per person: 2.737 tCO2e
Per person per day: 6.22 kg
Equivalent air miles: 84,201 miles
Trees required to offset emissions: 370
4. Reducing Our Carbon Emissions
We recognise that change is a process, and we are committed to continuous improvement.
What We’re Already Doing
Remote-first policy: By working remotely, we have eliminated office-related emissions.
Minimal waste generation: With no central office, we naturally produce less waste and avoid unnecessary consumption.
Supporting climate equity initiatives: Through our partnerships and funding efforts, we help Black-led organisations implement sustainability projects. Read more about the Climate Health Community Fund.
Community-Based Carbon Avoidance Projects: In line with our commitment to racial diversity and climate justice, we support carbon avoidance projects through the Ecologi platform. These projects focus on improving lives while reducing emissions, such as providing fuel-efficient cookstoves and improving access to clean water. This work directly benefits communities in Eritrea, Haiti, and Ghana while contributing to global emissions reduction efforts. To take full responsibility for our carbon impact, we ensure that our donation to these projects matches our total annual emissions. Learn more about the initiative here.
What Comes Next?
Supplier Engagement: Encouraging our suppliers to track and disclose emissions data.
Home Energy Audits: Supporting employees in understanding and reducing home energy consumption.
Equipment Efficiency: Providing guidance on energy-efficient home office equipment.
Business Travel Optimisation: Further refining travel policies to reduce reliance on high-emission transport.
Improved Tracking: Enhancing the way we collect and analyse emissions data.
Expanded Reporting: Including supplier emissions in future reports.
Sustainable Travel Promotion: Prioritising alternatives to air travel whenever possible.
Employee Support: Promoting sustainable home office practices through resources and incentives.
5. Reporting and Accountability
We believe in transparency and accountability. To uphold this, we follow these commitments:
Reporting Standards: Our calculations are based on the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
Public Access: This report is available on our website and included in our Impact Report.
Reduction Targets: We are actively working towards year-on-year emissions reductions.
6. A Call to Action for Stakeholders
As we continue our journey towards sustainability, we invite our partners, funders, suppliers, and peers within the ecosystem to join us in taking bold action for climate justice. Climate change is a collective challenge, and we can only achieve meaningful change by working together.
How You Can Get Involved:
Funders and Philanthropic Organisations: Support sustainability projects led by Black and underrepresented communities to ensure equitable climate solutions.
Businesses and Suppliers: Measure, report, and actively work to reduce your emissions while prioritising ethical and sustainable supply chains.
Non-profit and Community Organisations: Partner with us to co-create climate resilience initiatives that benefit marginalised communities.
Individuals and Advocates: Use your platform to highlight the intersection of racial justice and climate action and take steps to reduce your own environmental impact.
We are eager to collaborate with those who share our mission of driving sustainability through an equity-focused lens.
